Dance Floor Hire at Caffeine and Machine, Stratford-upon-Avon
Caffeine & Machine is unlike any other venue we work at. Better known for its automotive events, it also hosts a small number of weddings, New Year’s Eve celebrations and private parties inside its permanent tipi.
The tipi is long and rectangular, making a 20′ × 10′ dance floor the ideal size. This fits neatly between the supporting poles, creating a natural dance area while leaving plenty of space for guests and entertainment.
Although a 16′ × 16′ dance floor will fit, it needs to be positioned further into the tipi, reducing the available space for the DJ or band. For that reason, we generally recommend the 20′ × 10′ layout.
The venue also presents one unique challenge. The tipi sits on a loose rubber-based surface, similar to tyre chippings, rather than a solid level floor. This means every installation requires careful levelling to ensure the finished dance floor is perfectly stable.

This size fits neatly between the tipi poles, allows the DJ or band to set up comfortably behind the dance floor and creates an excellent layout for weddings and parties.

20′ x 10′
While larger floors may technically fit, they begin to compromise the layout of the tipi and reduce the available space for entertainment and guests.

Black Starlit
Our favourite choice for Caffeine & Machine. The darker finish hides any dust picked up from the tipi floor while the subtle LED lights complement the venue’s ambient lighting to create a fantastic party atmosphere.
Black and White Chequered
A perfect match for the venue’s motorsport theme. The chequered design reflects the look of a racing flag and creates a fun, unique feature that’s ideal for weddings, parties and corporate events.
Room positioning
Designed around the room
To make the best use of the permanent tipi, we normally position the dance floor:
- Centrally between the supporting tipi poles.
- Directly in front of the DJ or band.
- With the DJ positioned against the back wall as guests enter the tipi.
- Leaving clear access around the dance floor for guests.
- Making full use of the long rectangular layout of the tipi.
This layout naturally draws guests towards the entertainment while making the most of the available space.
Access and installation
How the setup normally works
Access at Caffeine & Machine is excellent, although installation timing depends on what events are taking place during the day.
Typically we:
- Drive directly alongside the permanent tipi.
- Unload just a few steps from the installation area.
- Wait until any daytime events have finished if necessary.
- Carefully level the dance floor to compensate for the uneven rubber surface.
- Complete the installation ready for the evening celebration.
Although access is one of the easiest of any venue we work at, the loose rubber flooring requires considerably more preparation than a typical hotel or wedding venue.
First-hand experience
Knowledge that helps everything run smoothly
Caffeine & Machine is one of the most unusual venues we install at. The excellent vehicle access makes unloading incredibly straightforward, but the surface beneath the tipi requires much more attention than most venues.
Taking the time to level the dance floor properly is essential and ensures a stable, professional finish despite the challenging ground conditions.
While white dance floors are always popular for weddings, we’d generally recommend choosing one of our darker finishes at Caffeine & Machine. The dusty surface beneath the tipi means darker dance floors stay looking cleaner throughout the evening while perfectly complementing the venue’s unique industrial and automotive character.

For most weddings and parties, we recommend a 20′ × 10′ dance floor. It fits perfectly between the tipi poles and creates the best layout for both dancing and entertainment.
Which floor style suits the room?
Our favourite choices are the Black Starlit Dance Floor and the Black & White Chequered Dance Floor. Both suit the venue’s unique character far better than lighter coloured floors.
