About Just Dance Floors

Just Dance Floors may be a new company by name, but the experience behind it runs deep.

I’m Damian, the founder of Just Dance Floors, and I’ve been involved in the events industry for over 35 years. My journey began at the age of eight, performing at my very first disco for a friend’s sister’s sixth birthday. I was paid 20 pence, but more importantly, I was hooked.

From that moment on, events became a constant part of my life — DJing, working with sound and lighting equipment, and learning how live events really function from the ground up.

From Full-Service Events to a Clear Specialism

For more than 25 years, I ran a full-service events company, supplying everything from DJs and photo booths to full AV setups. While that business was successful, one element always stood out above the rest: the dance floor.

The dance floor is where people come together. It’s where the atmosphere builds, where memories are made, and where an event truly comes to life.

However, running such a wide range of services came with its challenges — managing large amounts of equipment, coordinating teams and freelancers, and covering dozens of events every weekend. Over time, it became clear that focusing on everything meant I couldn’t give my absolute best to the one thing I loved most.

A Longstanding Passion for Dance Floors

In 2009, I purchased my first parquet dance floor as part of the wider events business. That purchase marked a turning point.

By 2010, I had invested in my first Black LED dance floor, making me one of the earlier adopters in the UK. Over the following years, I expanded both the types and quantities of dance floors I owned, gradually shifting my focus away from general events and towards flooring.

I also began designing and building bespoke dance floors, including a colour-changing starlit floor that offered smoother effects and greater control than anything else on the market at the time. Built using reclaimed parquet panels, it debuted in 2011 and was an instant hit — a design so memorable that I’m still in touch with the couple who first hired it.

Learning What Truly Works

As demand grew, so did my understanding of what clients actually value.

While advanced colour-changing technology was impressive, it became clear that reliability, scale, and visual impact mattered more. Clients wanted larger dance floors, shorter lead times, and flawless performance, especially at busy weddings and large events.

In 2016, I made a strategic decision to stop manufacturing electronic dance floors and instead concentrate on:

Expanding our stock of proven starlit floors
Developing bespoke coloured and patterned dance floors
Building a collection that could support large-scale events

At one point, this approach resulted in us holding one of the largest starlit dance floor stocks in the UK.

A Time to Refocus

Like the rest of the events industry, 2020 was incredibly challenging. The sector was shut down for over 15 months, and dance floors were specifically restricted.

As difficult as that period was, it provided space for reflection. I realised I no longer wanted to oversee 50+ events every weekend. What I wanted was to specialise — to do one thing exceptionally well.

Over the following years, I gradually streamlined services, narrowing the focus to dance floors and a small number of complementary offerings. By late 2024, the decision was clear.
