White Starlit Dance Floor at Walton Hall Hotel
Yesterday’s installation took us to Walton Hall Hotel in Warwickshire for a wedding in the Moncreiffe Suite.
The couple had booked a 12ft × 10ft white starlit dance floor. This is smaller than we would normally recommend for the room—a 14ft × 14ft floor generally looks better proportioned—but the smaller size still provided a dedicated space for the first dance and evening celebrations.
It also made for a particularly quick installation once we could get started.
Preparing for the journey
I began loading the equipment at our unit at approximately 4pm. As this was a smaller floor, loading was straightforward and left me with a little spare time to tidy the van before leaving.
Walton Hall Hotel is around a 40-minute drive from our unit. I left at 5pm, allowing time for traffic and aiming to begin the installation at 6pm.
I arrived at approximately 5.40pm and was met outside by Chris, the DJ for the wedding. Chris was working for Quasar Discos, Walton Hall’s recommended entertainment company.
He explained that the wedding breakfast guests were only just being served their starters. It was immediately clear that the room would not be ready for the planned 6pm setup.
Waiting for the room to be cleared
Fortunately, the speeches had already taken place, but the guests did not leave the Moncreiffe Suite until approximately 7pm.
We then waited another 15 to 20 minutes while the hotel team cleared the tables and chairs from the area needed for the DJ and dance floor.
Wedding breakfasts frequently run later than planned, so waiting time is something we have to allow for when completing timed evening installations. Even after the guests leave, venue staff still need time to transform the room safely without suppliers getting in their way.
The room already contained light-up letters and a neon sign, which had been installed earlier in the day.
Installing the dance floor
Once the space was clear, the installation went extremely smoothly and took only around 15 to 20 minutes.
Access at Walton Hall is particularly helpful for suppliers. We can drive around the back of the venue and park close to the doors leading directly into the Moncreiffe Suite. This keeps the carrying distance short and makes unloading multiple dance-floor panels considerably easier.
The dance floor and DJ were positioned together in the central section of the room, directly in front of the fireplace. This is the usual arrangement in the Moncreiffe Suite and creates a clear focal point for the evening reception.
Although the 12ft × 10ft dance floor was smaller than the 14ft × 14ft size we would normally suggest, it fitted neatly into the available space and provided the couple with the white starlit finish they had chosen.
Returning at 1am
I returned to Walton Hall at 1am to collect the floor.
Guests were still dancing when I arrived, but Chris was playing the final song of the night. It was good to see the floor continuing to be used right through to the end of the reception.
Once the music finished and the guests moved away, I could begin dismantling and loading the dance floor.
Dance floor hire at Walton Hall Hotel
We regularly supply dance floors to Walton Hall Hotel and know the Moncreiffe Suite’s access, layout and usual installation position well.
For most weddings in this room, we recommend a 14ft × 14ft dance floor because it provides more space for guests and looks better balanced against the size of the suite. However, a smaller 12ft × 10ft floor can still work when the couple wants a more compact dancing area or has other installations competing for space.
The central position in front of the fireplace works particularly well, keeping the DJ and dance floor together while creating an obvious focal point for the evening.
